The nice quiet surronding of ISI. Being in the back office typing this makes it seem like there wasn't any spring break, the past week only a reminder because of the choking hold my throat has from my stomach the clear indicator that my body doesn't want to wake up at 5:30 in the morning. Did that make any sense?
So much work to be done, 2 weeks left before I have to leave, will I get it all finished? With so much piled up, so much to do, It seems like I'll never finish.
Sorry that there isn't much to report today.

What is Risk?
Risk. That word means different things to different people. To some people, risk could be the possiblity of getting hurt while doing what you do. Risk could be losing the trust of people around you from you not doing something.
To me, Risk is losing it all.
James, you say I need to have a Walkabout with Risk, but if you just look on one way of what risk could be, you fail to see that doing everything has risk to it, everything. Forgetting to brush your teeth one night risks you getting a cavity, working a printing press risks inking your shirt, working as a teacher risks your students hating and making fun of you.
You say that being at ISI doesn't harbour much risk. You may be right, right now I'm in Sales. There isn't much risk there. If I went back to ISI I would be working with the printing presses, computers, etc, where the risk is a lot higher, the risk of screwing something up so bad that it can't be fixed easily and losing everything is there. Losing trust is the greatist risk in my mind when on a walkabout.
And to risk losing is a risk in itself.

Thursday.... YAY!!1!!Shift1
Good morning Dimsdale!
Wait...
Anyways, good morning. Today is Thursday, and since I won't be here tomorrow, I thought I'd post today!
Yesterday I continued to work on the filing, looking through all the piles and piles of invoices for the numbers low enough that I could file them away. Unfortunatly, I ran out of green folders and there were no more extra in the building, so some are on order now. This means I can't file for a while, unless some more invoices up to 70600 come in. Yea.
I like to file the invoices though. The filing cabnets are back by engraving, so it's quiet. You could really lose youself in your thoughts back there. Will the less ammount of distractions, you can get work done a lot faster.
I'm really upset that I can't come in next week. With no way to get to columbus, and not wanting Patrick to go way out of his way to come get me, I can't come in. Hopefully, when I get back, there will be more folders so I can start filing again!.

Today is Wednesday! Rainy, boring, and slow
Welcome back to another look into the insane world that is my mind.
Today.... yea. Basically, recently I've been working just for Jami, taking backed up invoices and filing them away in an old filing cabnet. Occasionally I have to make a new set to work with, the numbers in the cabnet only go up to 40400 so far. We have numbers in the 42000 thats coming in.
I really enjoy coming here for walkabout. The people are nice, helpful, and when I'm here the days pass in a blur. I don't mind being here full-time-ish, I just love coming and doing things that help out. I feel as if I'm leaving an impression on those who work here, a good impression, and to me, that's what walkabout is... about.
I don't have much else to say on this matter, however. So I bid you farewell for now.

Wurrrr, it's Friday
So yea, it's Friday. I feel like utter crap and wish I were at home....
Let's see... Wednesday I worked upstairs with Wanda. All day I looked up Zip codes for her letters going out, and then I made lables for the envelopes. That's about it.... Wanda, Pat, and Judy are off in Georiga right now...
Thursday I worked with Les, Kelly, and Mary. My shoe went missing. Boo...... Not much to say on that...
So yea..... No one is really here today and it's gloomy.... I just want to go to sleep right... now... Zzzzz

Week of March the 3rd and this week so far.
I can't really account for what happened last week except for Tuesday and Friday, so to solve this problem I shall start writing the blog on Wednesday for the events of Monday and Tuesday, Write Friday for Wednesday and Thursday, then write the next Monday about the Friday before.
Tuesday We didn't have school. I wasn't going to have Pat come so far out of his way to come pick me up like that.
Friday I worked with Mary, the secretary. I ran errands for her and called her when the phone was ringing. I left at 1:30 that day because of the snow. Les did donuts in the parking lot. Hurr hurr de hurr.
Monday there was a level one snow emergency, so of course I wasn't here. I don't even think they were open Monday...
Tuesday I was there at school for the Senior thing. We really didn't do much.... Well, you were there so you know. Teehheetahurr.
I have no idea. o.o

4th Quarter Goals, expectations, possible areas of failure, and risk
For 4th Quarter Walkabout, my goal is to get to go back to Identity Systems INC. My goal, more specifically, is to get back there and get into the tech department and learn new things. I've already kinda talked about it to Pat, and I've really talked about it to Les (He's basically the demigod of the company, like the backbone).
I expect to gain a good deal of knowledge about the Made 2 Manage system, how to work on the engraving machines (like programing them, fixing them, etc), and how to use Adobe Illistrator if needed.
An area of possible risk would be serriously screwing up the Made2Manage system somehow. Kelly told me that once he messed it up and they had to pay 300-400 dollars just to get it fixed. Another risk would be screwing up an engraving machine to the point where it wouldn't work. Going into the tech area has some serrious risks where a screwup could mean broken items and money from the own pocket.

Whatever goes, Mon ami!
Well, that little bit of French has nothing to do with anything.
The Big storm is today..... Bugger.
The Big storm is today..... Bugger.
~BODHISATTVA OF CATHEDRAL~
You who only hates
You lead me in heaven, going about pleading.
Your lack of love is
It's clouding my heart and
Freely gives me something that flows in my mind.
If this love will stay.
Please only use this love.
Please Ohhh....
Never know glaver gley in a glisten.
-Tell me like a day in the rising.
Heavy going and I like getting peace that's clean.
Like a child, in the light where the light's been.
-Hear the cry of the leave in the heathen.
Ever know where the blamed and the leathered get lashin?
Oh I'll never want a heaven only sewn with gold.
It's been kinda lousy when it's gone.
It's been never kinda clean being if you would want to climb.
-It's really God who loves the soul.
Undo to Undo to Undo to..
Those are the lyrics to a song I've been listening to a lot of lately, and it seems to match the mood of the days here. The song is quiet with piano at first, then it gets louder and more fastpaced halfway through.
I don't really have anything to really talk about today, so.... hm.... Right now I'm reading a manga called 'Emma'. The story ia about a young, beautiful maid in London who has falled in love with an aristocrat. William, the aristocrat, has falled in love with her as well. But due to the class differences they can't be together. It's a sad story, but I love it.
What else? I love it here, the atmoshpere is nice, but friendly. Just yesterday Les and I had a rubberband fight, in which Emilie joined in then ran away. It's like a giant family here and I love it.
I can't really think of anything else to say, so Ta-ta for now

Why to stay at ISI (And the tale of the hot sauce)
First off, have the magical tale of our stupidity and the the Hottest Hotsauce ever. Serriously, it's the hottest hotsauce in the world.
So on Monday Kelly brought in 'Da Bomb' Hotsauce. Wait, it was Tuesday. I was with Kelly on Tuesday, not Monday. I was with Les MONDAY. Getting back to the story. Anyways, Kelly was having people try it, and it was the smalles ammount too, like a tiny spot on your pinkie, etc. They started going on about how hot it was. So Les comes in and wants to have some. Kelly and I had some and decided that we didn't get any of the oils in it, so Les covered the opening with his finger. shook it up, then rubbed the sauce into his tounge. I told him it was a stupid moment (We were just now talking about it), and he says, 'It was a brave, manly moment'. Whatever, it was a stupid thing to do. Anyways, he was coughing for about 5 years and couldn't talk at all. That's not the story though. Later, and excuse my language, Kelly, Sam, and I decided to smother the top of a warhead with the hotsauce and then eat it. Yea... we're dumbasses. That shit burned! I couldn't swallow without my throat burning like crazy, the roof of my mouth was all about burn off, and I could feel the hotsauce burning merrily in my stomach a couple hours later.....
Not gonna do that again =D
Okay. Now, my reason and wish for staying at ISI for my fourth-quarter walkabout.
Identity Systems Inc. is a company that has many different types of jobs within it's walls. A good chunk of the jobs here is sales and accounting. Mostly I've been working in sales with different people like Les, Emilie, Wanda, and Jami learning the different aspects of how to work that side of the buisness, what to do, and how to do it. That alone, if I spent the rest of my time just in sales, would take up the rest of this walkabout quarter.
But you see, I really want to learn how the system works as well, which is more into the tech department. I want to learn how Made2Manage works, how a engraving machine works, how to solve computer problems and how to make things work the way that people want to. SO, I was hoping that for my 4th quarter I could come back to ISI and work with Kelly, Sam, Terry, and whoever else has experience with the computers and tech here so I could learn a LOT more. I have a feeling that it's gonna take me a good chunk of time to learn how the system works.
This really doesn't explain it, and I'd be happy to come in and talk to all of you about this topic. Because I really don't want to do PSEO, and there are many risks, both physical and mental risks (Like getting hurt, disappointing people here, angering the president of the company, falling onto the screenprinter, etc etc) here and I really want to learn a lot more here than I have time to do so.
So please, let me come in to talk about it because I really want to stay here for another quarter and learn the most I can.

Feb. Week of 25th (or so)
Okay! I got you message James, and that will go in the next post!
Monday I worked with Kelly, and I think before he got in I was working with Wanda. We ran around the building doing various jobs and spent a lot of the later day trying to get Shelly's part printer to work. See, the Made to Manage system put some spaces in the code so the barcode and everything wasn't printing out right. We never did get it to work right, and Kelly really doesn't really want to mess with the system and screw it up.
Tuesday I think I worked with Les. You have to understand, the days run together here, the experience you gain makes the days bleed together and you know you did something, but can't remember the exact date it happened. Yes, I worked with Les on Tuesday. We basically worked on some files, went and talked with people about quotes and such, had a lunch of beef stew, and worked on more files and paperwork after lunch. I think that was the day that... yes, Ally Anderson came in that day, so that must have been the day that Les accedentally ripped a hole in the ears of my hood. Tuesday was a slow day, maybe that's why it's so muddled.
Wednesday I worked with Jami in accounting. She showed me how to do varrious things with the Made2Manage system like put in how much shipping would cost for one thing, how to add and change tax for another thing. I'm not good with numbers, so this was a good experience to have. I want to work with her again so I can get better at reconizing things in the system and maybe file in some of the costs too.
Thursday I was sick. Icky icky sick. =P
Friday I worked with Les again and spent the intire morning filing every quote from January 07 to now into folders by month and year. That was really frustrating, I had almost made myself sick again doing it. But it makes me happy to know that I can actually do something lasting and worthwhile for this company like helping sort files. After lunch I took the new files from this year and put them in the right folders, or made new folders to put the files in. After I got the new files in there I had to go through and find the 08 files and put them in the new folders. That also took a while to do. By the time I left I had a good ammount of helpful knowledge on how to file things correctly. Also, I was very VERY tired.
That's for that week. You'll hear from me again next Monday. JA-NE!
